Charles Mason Remey papers

Abstract

Charles Mason Remey was an architect, author, and a religious leader of the Baha'i faith. He was born in Burlington, Iowa, May 15, 1874. The collection consists of 154 bound volumes, spanning 1836-1940. In the volumes are personal reminiscences, clippings, photographs, memorabilia, biographical accounts of Mason and Remey family members, and a historical record of the Baha'i faith.

Elisabeth Gilman was born in New Haven, Connecticut, December 25, 1867. She was the younger daughter of Daniel Coit and Mary (Ketcham) Gilman. Her father was a college professor and the first president of The Johns Hopkins University. The volatile period of civil unrest in France during May 1968 was punctuated by demonstrations and massive general strikes as well as the occupation of universities and factories across France. At the height of its fervor, it virtually brought the entire advanced capitalist economy of France to a dramatic halt. This artificially-created collection contains posters, protest leaflets, tracts, and photographs from these student protests in May 1968.
